If you find that you are unable to edit your auction to upload a new picture (screen effectively freezes with "uploading" message) you are probably using Internet Explorer.
This appears to be an issue with Internet Explorer. Please edit your listing with Firefox and there should be no problem.
Q: Is it really free to sell? What's the catch?
A: Yes, it really can be free to sell on Bidplatz. There is no catch, a basic listing has no listing fees and no selling fees.
Q: What fees are payable?
A: Please look at our site-fees page and you will see the few examples of where fees are charged. You will also see that in the majority of cases there are no fees.
Q. How can I find out what the correct Google Base product category is?
By selecting the relevant categories down to the final product level, you will be given the full text required such as Electronics > Electronics Accessories > Remote Controls"
If nothing is entered here we will use the auction category in the file submitted to Google. This will not be as good as the full official Google category but should help improve the relevance of your auctions to their listings.
In creating your auction listing we recommend you avoid the use of special characters as these may not be accepted by Googlebase and may result in the listing being rejected by Google.
The Bidplatz system is both easy to use and very comprehensive. It is possible to calculate postage as Free, by Item, by Weight, by Amount or Flat Rate.
It is also possible to charge additional postage depending on where an item is being sent to. This is particularly useful if you are shipping internationally or there are different sales taxes depending on State.
Log in, select the MEMBERS AREA tab at the top and on the left you will see POSTAGE CALCULATION SETUP.
If you are not intending to ship internationally, you can probably just use a fixed postage rate.
However, if you are willing to ship internationally or apply different postage rates by State for example, the Bidplatz system has the flexibility to cope (see Shipping Location below).
Item Based Postage
Postage is set for each item listed. Additional postage may be added if the location option is used.
Weight Based Postage
Postage rates can be set according to weight bands. You have the option of using the default bands or (like most people) setting your own bands appropriate to your products.
If weight based postage is selected, the weight will be prompted for during auction listing.
If this option is not selected, this information is not prompted for so should be included within the auction details if relevant.
Amount Based Postage
Similar to Weight Based however the postage is according to the invoice value and the postage bands that you set. This is ideal if you wish to charge free postage on orders over £50 for example.
Flat Rate
This applies to all your auctions rather than being set for each item listed.
This option is ideal if you have a standard product with consistent postage costs, but not ideal if the postage charge varies from item to item.
A postage charge is set for the first item and then an extra charge for each additional item.
It is therefore very easy to have £2.50 for the first item and £1 postage for each additional item for example. Again using the Location option allows you to add postage for airmail.
Postage according to Shipping Location
An amount can be added to the postage depending on where the item is going.
GLOBAL means the shipping rate is applied to all buyers regardless of location.
LOCAL allows you to specify locaitons and amounts to be ADDED to the shipping cost.
If LOCAL is selected you will have the ability to add locations. From the selection list on the left, select the countries/states you wish to group together by highlighting them and clicking the > arrow in the middle. When you have finished selecting countries/states, enter the value and calculation method in the box below the list and click on "proceed". Repeat the process as required.
We recommend adding a location for your country which could be left at zero or could have a value you wish to charge for postage on a per-order basis
You can then add further locations for additional postage to be applied for international orders. For instance the second "location" might include all the European countries with a value to cover the additional cost of postage to Europe.
You could then add another location or locations for countries outside Europe that you wish to include, along with the additional postage charge for those countries.
If for example you wanted to charge £2.50 postage for an item, but only £1 postage for evey additional item (because combined postage is cheaper) you could do this by using both item postage and the shipping location options.
By setting the item postage at £1 and the shipping location postage at £1.50 you would achieve this. Furthermore, if you wanted to charge an additional £1 for Airmail, you would just set the Shipping Location rate for those countries to be £1 more than your country.
